The Five Elements or Wisdom Energies Seminar
A mandala is a fluid map of our intrinsic wholeness. Walking the path is like walking a spiral, where we work with core issues and conflicts, again and again, but we meet each encounter on a more evolved plane. This involves communication with parts of ourselves that may be inflexible, underdeveloped or which have been denied.
The image of a spiral is of an ever widening and deepening curve around a central point. That point is our unique individuality or essential self. To be a true individual is to not be divided, to not be other than who we are. The spiral mandala reflects our evolutionary journey inwards, towards greater depth, complexity, and profundity — as well as our movement outwards into more intimate communication with our world. A distinguishing feature of this method is that we move from wholeness to wholeness. Each step along the way can be experienced as complete with nothing lacking. We can't be anywhere other than where we presently are, at any given stage of our journey. This is the fruition of meditation practice. Working creatively with the Buddhist five elements, we transform them into their elegant and sane expressions. Space: our tendency to space out is transformed into a refreshing sense of openness. Water: our overly conceptual mind is transformed into mirror-like wisdom that is clear, precise, and yet fluid. Earth: our hunger to fill our emptiness or inflate our self-worth, is transformed into a dynamic sense of equanimity and enriching presence. Fire: our neurotic desire driven by the pursuit of pleasure, is transformed into compassionate relationship with others and intimacy with everyday life. Wind: Our compulsive behaviors and endless seeking are transformed into a celebration of our life, as we experience completeness and satisfaction wherever we find ourselves. |
